Bushiri Beach
Bushiri Beach Resort, according to the faded sign, was Aruba's first all inclusive resort. North of Oranjestad, eight miles of resorts muscle for beachfront, starting with mostly older "mid-rises" and growing into glammier and ganglier high-rises. As they stretch North towards the desert of California Point, beaches get whiter while the prices and buildings grow higher. At the modest end of this row and a chain link fence away from the cargo containers of Aruba's main harbor, is the now desolate Bushiri. Despite appearances, it seems to have closed quite recently, for several travel sites as of April 2007 still offer reviews and quote prices (these photos were taken in Dec. 2006). One site, below a sunny picture of a busy resort, at least notes: "Bushiri Beach has closed. The property is now being taken over by weeds."
Quotes from some reviews...
The only nice thing was the clean room and a few helpful staff. We would not stay here again.
We were there quite a while ago for our honeymoon. Terrifc food, service, everything was excellent. Maybe it's not the ritziest place to stay, but it's the best. Doesn't surprise me that New Yorkers would complain.
If it's really closed, it would be a tragedy.
The Bushiri was one of the most relaxing places I have ever been to. The staff was great, the food was abundant, the women were beautiful, and the locals were a blast.
The rooms could definitely use new rugs.
...broken glass on our floor, beds unmade, dead birds on the patio.
Great! Back for the 10th time!
Nice pool which was cleaned every day and sauna's were nice too with clean water. Very clean hotel.
We went to Bushiri on our honeymoon. It was a gift from my mother-in-law so I wasn't sure what to expect.
